Tasco Red Dot not too bad!
I have had a Tasco red dot for about two years. I have had it mounted on various weapons all the way up to .308.
I was iffy about purchasing a Tasco at firs,t but this was supposed to be their top of the line Tasco and I tell ya I have to agree, it has never lost zero on anything I have put it and it is very bright and battery life is substantial.
I believe they only run $100 now, but for a cheap red dot this is what I would pick. I have owned bushnell, and vortex as well and they do not compare to this site what so ever.

Re: Tasco Red Dot not too bad!
I have one also I mounted on a rifle.
I put it on over 5 years ago and have been meaning to upgrade it.
BUT, the darn thing works great, don't need to fix something that isn't broken.
Last summer 3 of us where able to hit a bowling ball off hand at 100 yards with the 1st shot!
Money well spent, more money left over for ammo!

I'll chime in on this.
I had a Tasco Propoint I ran on my race gun (1911 45ACP, naturally) for a few years. NEVER had an issue of any kind with it - it simply worked and worked well.
Got rid of the race gun, stuck the Aimpoint in the drawer for several years. Took it out and put it on Racer's FAL. The battery was noticeably weakened but still working and the FAL's recoil doesn't seem to be bothering it a bit as he test drove the Aimpoint then ended up trading me a nice 3x9 conventional scope for it.
Convinced me you don't need to spend 400 + for a red dot to get a good one.

I agree OldGuy,
As far as I can tell, the only thing better the new generation of red-dot sights have going for them is the insanely long battery life (8000 hrs. in some cases)!
I'll stick with my older style red-dot. It's easy enough to remember to turn it off when done using it!

I put a cheap $50 Center Point red dot on my 870, put hundreds of rounds thru it and the scope stays at 0.
I bought it to hold over until I could afford something better but I'd be damned, it still does the job!

I agree, my Cheap-O has held up for almost 6 years!
I want a nicer red-dot, but the dammed Cheap-O unit keeps on working!
